CANTON — Voters in the Cherokee County Commission District 2 race will have a final say on who will represent them on Tuesday.

Polls for the runoff will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voters in the district to choose between incumbent County Commissioner Jim Hubbard and challenger Raymond Gunnin. Gunnin edged out challenger Channing Ruskell in the three-man race on July 31.

Advance voting for the runoff was last week at the county’s elections office in downtown Canton. Elections Supervisor Janet Munda said 112 people showed up to cast their ballots.

Munda added the low turnout was to be expected.

“Well, you always want a good turnout any time you have an election,” she said, adding she expects a low turn out on Election Day.

Voting on Tuesday will take place at the following precincts: Air Acres, Arnold Mill, Avery, Bradshaw, Hickory Flat, Little River, Mountain Road, Neese, Union Hill, Univeter and Woodlands.

For more information, call the elections office at (770) 479-0407 or visit www.voter.cherokeega.com.

Gunnin wants to continue to cut by working with county employee input. Hubbard wants to rest on past laurels. The tax payers want a change because of the lack of sunshine and anticipated multi million dollar cost of Ball Ground Recycling. If turnout is low that would mean voters are turning their backs on an opportunity to impact future BOC make up. All of the old need to go, starting now. We have too many similarities with Stockton, San Jose, San Bernadino, and Harrisburg. VOTE TO PUT CHEROKEE COUNTY BACK ON A RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL TRACK.

Just as I mis-spelled the above, most voters are not informed. Cherokee County is one of the lowest per-capita run counties, if not the lowest in the state. Just because a few un-informed people are loud, tell lies and would ruin this county, they convience other un-informed voters to follw them. If the few evil groups in this county have a say, they will ruin all the good work this board has done. And the elections that have already been decided, shame on most of you, you have allowed this group to take hold, due to you were to scared of doinng what was right and losing your elections to point these evil people out.But now that your safe for a little bit, do whats right and run these people out of the county before they ruin us. The present board has done a great job for many years!!
