A 6:30 p.m. work session is expected to precede the 7 p.m. meeting.
Lodean Gresham has petitioned the city to annex and rezone 7.25 acres on Hiram Way near Holly Springs Parkway from a combination of R-40 single family residential and agricultural to general commercial. A planned shopping center is the proposed use of the property.
The city will also consider granting conditional use permits for 10 of the parcels.
City Manager Rob Logan said the permits are needed as the plans for the land are more intense than the general commercial use would allow.
Logan said the property owners intend to market their properties for sale as a potential development of a shopping center.
During its work session, the council is expected to discuss how it wants to proceed with property it owns at 155 Hickory Road and review a lease agreement for property at 3087 Holly St.
The council is also expected to discuss and review a contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation to acquire right-of-way.
Logan said the agreement with GDOT is part of the city’s efforts to begin acquiring right-of-way in relation to its Livable Centers Initiative streetscapes project in downtown.
The council is expected to consider approval of the lease agreement and the contract with GDOT during the meeting.
Other items on the agenda include:
* A special presentation by Jebb Ricketts for a proposed Eagle Scout project. The council will vote whether to approve or deny the project;
* Consider approval of a proclamation to Support Our Seniors Day;
* Consider approval to award guardrail replacements and repairs to Martin-Robbins Fence Co., Inc. in the amount of $7,878;
* Consider approval to name Foresite Group as the design firm for the proposed Hickory Road Park;
* Consider approval of a compensation agreement with Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services, Inc.; and
* Consider granting Mayor Tim Downing authority the authority to execute an option to develop agreement with the Holly Springs Downtown Development Authority and Macauley Schmit, LLC.
