Online access continues to be included with a print subscription to the Cherokee Tribune and requires readers to register online and create a one-time username and password. The new model also offers an online-only subscription, which gives readers access to all digital products without home delivery of the newspaper.
“Our readers like the flexibility and convenience of our E-edition and we have seen a steady increase in online subscribers,” said Cherokee Tribune Managing Editor Rebecca Johnston. “Our news and sports team is dedicated to providing readers who still prefer the print newspaper as well as those who access our content online with the highest level of local coverage.”
The metered model will allow users to read a limited number of articles each month before asking them to subscribe for full access.
New readers are offered a $0.99 trial offer for the first month before the standard online subscription rate of $4.49 per month applies. Readers can subscribe from the CherokeeTribune.com home page by clicking “Subscribe to the CT.”
“Like many businesses, we have had to rethink our business model and approach to the Internet,” said Executive Vice President Otis Brumby III. “Whether content is distributed in print or a digital platform, our news and sports coverage has value, and it no longer makes sense to allow unlimited free online access.”
The Cherokee Tribune, along with its flagship newspaper the Marietta Daily Joural, has partnered with Press+ to securely handle online transactions and authentication for web, E-edition, tablet and mobile. Press+ is a RR Donnelley company and works with more than 300 newspapers across the country.
Print subscribers can register for their complimentary online account by going to www.cherokeetribune.com, clicking on “digital sign in,” and following the quick registration process.
Customer service representatives are also available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday to assist with any registration questions by calling (770) 795-5000.
