Authorities believe Kevin M. Stefanik, 39, died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash, which occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Monday just south of the Barrett Parkway overpass in Kennesaw.
According to Cobb Police, Stefanik’s 2011 Buick Regal was pulled over on the side of the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 just south of the Barrett Parkway overpass around 4:15 p.m. As a H.E.R.O. unit was about to pull over and help, the driver drove off. Around 100 yards north of where the driver originally stopped, the car went off the right side of the road and plunged down a ravine. The car struck some trees at the wood line and burst into flames.
Cobb Fire put out the flames and found Stefanik’s body in the driver’s seat.
Cobb Police investigators are still trying to determine what exactly caused Stefanik to stop in the first place, and then plunge over the side. They can be reached at (770) 499-3987.
