Jose Olivera got five consecutive life terms Friday and David Valencia got two consecutive life terms for charges including murder and kidnapping.
A jury convicted both men of strangling two kidnap victims after holding them for nearly three weeks at a San Diego home in 2007, then dissolving their corpses in acid. Olivera was convicted of a murdering another man whose body was left in a trunk.
Prosecutors say the men belonged to a group that defected from the Tijuana, Mexico-based Arellano-Felix cartel. Authorities say the group was disbanded after an FBI operation in 2007.
