Officials say Rafael Lopez barricaded himself inside his home after allegedly opening fire on the officials Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Chris Acosta tells the El Paso Times that after the first shots were fired from the home, a woman and several children left the home. About an hour later, shots were again fired from inside the home at officials.
Family members say Lopez was being served with a warrant about violating probation.
Several blocks in the area were closed during the standoff.
