The driver, 34-year-old Bobby Gene Renfroe Jr., of Powder Springs received a minor injury to his left arm but has since been released from WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Det. Candy Worthy with the Canton Police Department said Tuesday.
“Renfroe was negotiating a curve travelling westbound and down the hill on Highway 140 toward Canton,” Worthy said. “It is suspected that Renfroe was traveling too fast and overcorrected after crossing the center line. This caused the truck to overturn and spill contents of the trash on the roadway that was being carried.”
Worthy said traffic investigators also cited Renfroe with reckless driving.
Drivers heading west on 140 were diverted off the highway at Scott Road by officers with the Canton Police Department and deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. The area was cleared and all lanes were open around 3:30 p.m.
