I’ll be brief. I just finished reading the proposed amendment on this year’s ballot regarding the Homestead exemption tax…or whatever. I read it twice and I still cannot figure out what the devil it is about. As far as I can ascertain, they either want to raise, lower or do away with either the homestead exemption or levy a tax on the homestead exemption in some or all of Cherokee County.

In the words of Forrest Gump, “I’m not a smart man.” However, I am a high school graduate with some college, and I should be able to understand an amendment to either raise or lower my taxes.

All I know is that the last time I said “yes” to something I didn’t understand, I got a subscription to “Cat Lovers’ Monthly” that lasted for two years.

So, based on my experience with unintelligible writing…and cats, I guess I’ll vote, “No.”
