Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, said firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after midnight to find heavy flames coming from one of the corners of the two-story home and the back of the home fully involved.
A 66-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man in the home did not report any injuries.
“The female occupant stated that she was in the living room watching television and began to smell smoke,” Cavender said. “She walked up to the second story and saw nothing but red and realized the home was on fire.”
The home at 1780 Trinity Church Road received major fire, smoke and water damage. Portions of the road were blocked until the clean-up was complete.
Cavender said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
