Donald Judson Moran, 24, was arrested early Monday morning at his home off East Cherokee Drive after he fled the crime scene, Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said.
Baker said deputies were dispatched to 24-year-old Kimberly Thomas’ home on Lyndhurst Circle at about 1:30 a.m. and found 24-year-old Graham Royal, who had been stabbed multiple times in the face and back.
Graham, an Alpharetta resident, was visiting Thomas at the time.
Thomas and Royal told deputies Moran, Thomas’ ex-boyfriend, broke into the home and attacked Royal.
“Deputies went to Moran’s home off East Cherokee Drive and determined Moran had fled the location on foot,” Baker said.
Moran returned after about an hour and was placed under arrest, he said.
“A search warrant of the home was conducted and the knife believed to be used in the attack was located in Moran’s bedroom,” Baker said.
Royal was transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital where he is in stable condition.
Moran is in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center.
Moran was originally charged with aggravated assault and burglary, with his bond set at $33,500.
On Tuesday, Baker said additional charges were added to include aggravated battery, possession of a knife through the commission of a felony and felony stalking.
Moran is now being held without bond.
Baker said investigators have discovered evidence that suggests Moran has been stalking Thomas.
