MUST Ministries is in need of donations, as the operations manager said the stock of food may not get the nonprofit’s Canton location through the next couple of months.

Operations Manager Dale Cooper said she’s worried the nonprofit’s donations during the Thanksgiving holiday — the time when the organization typically gets the most food — are not enough to last through January.

“Donations are down,” Cooper said. “We’re low on canned meats, jelly, peanut butter and canned pasta.”

On Tuesday, Cooper assigned some of the cadets at the Canton MUST location to sorting clothes because there was no food left to sort.

Cooper said that’s never happened before.

“Usually by Wednesday, the kids are still sorting through the cans,” Cooper said. “In past years, you would be side-stepping through our storage area trying to get through all the food.”

But the floor was visibly empty, with large additional space in each food storage section.

“We’re getting soup and things that are less expensive, but not what we need to last us through the New Year,” Cooper said. “It’s way down, but of course we’re thankful for what we get.”

The MUST Ministries Donation Center is located at 1210-B Kennestone Circle in Marietta. It will be closed Thursday and Friday, but will re-open Saturday. Normal hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This donation center acts as a distribution point for all of the MUST services.

MUST prefers that you make in-kind donations to the Donation Center so that the items can be distributed among all of the facilities.

The MUST Donation Center accepts donations of food, clothing and household items. For all other items, including furniture and appliances, please call to inquire if MUST has an immediate need.
