Ceruzzi will be at the Lodge at BridgeMill today to showcase his seasonal songs as part of the Lodge’s Christmas Open House.
The free event is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and features more than 15 decorated Christmas trees, Dickens carolers, Mr. and Mrs Claus, the Tri-Lyca Trio, the Take Three Trio, a children’s performance, Wreaths Across America and a number of vendors.
Ceruzzi’s CD entitled “Christmas Holiday” features eight original songs he says are sure to put people in a holiday mood.
While he composed the lyrics and music to several of the songs over the years, the latest song, “Dear Santa Claus” is especially touching, he said.
“‘Dear Santa’ is about a young boy who says he has been good all year in a letter to Santa, and while at first he wanted to get some gifts this year, after seeing the news about all that is going on in the world, this year he tells Santa to give away his toys to other boys and girls,” Ceruzzi said. “It is a song that brings a tear to the eye.”
Ceruzzi’s CD was produced in Nashville and features singers and performers.
“I write all kinds of music, patriotic, love songs, all types. But I have always loved Christmas and it was easy to put this one together,” he said.
All four of his CDs will be available at today’s event.
“People recognize my songs by the melody, in my music the melody is so strong. I do believe in melody,” he said of his name, the Melody Man.
Ceruzzi has lived in Canton since 2005 and was born in Port Chester, N.Y.
His musical career started at the age of 4 with accordion lessons. Ceruzzi developed into a recognized jazz musician with a jazz accordion style similar to that of the great Art Van Damme.
He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor and master’s degree in music education and taught high school instrumental and vocal music in Illinois and Iowa.
Born with a rare musical gift known as “perfect pitch”, the Melody Man can identify notes, chords, key signatures, and so forth as he listens to a piece of music without seeing the actual notes.
The Lodge of Bridgemill is located at 10451 Bells Ferry Road in Canton.
