Michael Lamar Dollar, age 58, passed away at his Brunswick, GA home, Saturday, December 1st, following his battle with cancer. Born in Pensacola, Florida on March 8, 1954, Michael was the oldest son of Joseph Lamar Dollar of Albany, GA and the late Shirley Gosselin Dollar. He graduated from Albany High School in 1972. He later moved to Vermont where he met his first wife, Marion Dollar. They later settled in Woodstock, GA with their six sons, where Michael owned and operated his company Dollar Heating and Air. His six athletic sons kept him very involved on many different playing fields. He found solace in his gardening, reading and woodworking. He later moved to Brunswick, GA with his wife Resa. In August of this year he retired from his superintendent position with H.A. Sack of Statesboro, GA. He is survived by his wife Resa Dollar of Brunswick, GA; his six sons, Jason L. Dollar and his two children, Victoria and Grace; Zachary A. Dollar (Jennifer) and their two children, Brandon and Brock, all of Woodstock, GA. Joshua D. Dollar of Acworth, GA; Joseph D. Dollar (Sara) and their child Isla of Canton, GA; Phillip J. Dollar of Marietta, GA and Michael A. Dollar of Atlanta, GA. His three stepchildren of 17 years, Matthew D. Schenck and his two children, Ethan and Jacob of Woodstock, GA. Whitney and Tracey Schenck of Brunswick, GA. His father and stepmother, Joe and Janice Dollar of Albany, GA; his two sisters, Karen Luthman (Paul) of Albany, GA and Renee Dollar of New Port Richey, FL. A memorial service on Saturday, December 8th will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Albany, GA, the church home of his parents, with Reverend Dr. Paul Luthman officiating and Reverend Kent Miller assisting. There will be a family gathering at 10:30 and the service will begin at 11. The family would like to thank everyone at the Golden Isles of Hospice for their kind and loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia, 4765 US 17N, Brunswick, GA 31525.
