Van Edmond Bergen, of Woodstock, passed away December 15, 2012 at Kennestone Hospital following an extended illness. He was 63. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 21, 1012 at Georgia National Cemetery with Woodstock Funeral Home directing. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel, with Bill Thrasher officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Sandy Hook School Support C\O Newton Savings Bank, 39 Main Street Newtown, CT 06470 or the Georgia Kidney Association, 2951 Flowers Road South, Suite 211, Atlanta, GA 30341-5533. Mr. Bergen was born February 26, 1949 in Tuba City, AZ to the late Joseph Lee and Vera Todacheene Bergen. Mr. Bergen was also a 26 year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving as Master Gunnery Sargent. Mr. Bergen was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Bergen, Sr., Oliver Bergen, and Jerry Bergen, also two sisters, Verda Toledo and Josephine Bergen. Survivors include his wife, Donna Bergen; four sons, Charles Bergen, Van Bergen, Jr., Christopher Bergen and Joey Bergen; one daughter, Vera Brown; one step-son, Josh Panter; two sisters, JoAnn Esquibel and Vera Todacheene; two brothers, Allen Bergen and Joe Bergen, Sr.; 21 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
