Offices to close for MLK holiday

Most local government agencies will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday. Some governmental agencies have also changed meeting times because of the holiday.

City offices in Canton, Woodstock, Holly Springs, Waleska, Ball Ground and Nelson will close for the day. Cherokee County government offices will also close.

The Holly Springs City Council meeting normally scheduled for the third Monday of the month will take place at 7 p.m.Thursday.

A Woodstock City Council work session normally scheduled for the third Monday of the month has been cancelled.

The Waleska City Council will meet Monday at 7 p.m. as regularly scheduled.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be a holiday for students and teachers in the Cherokee County School District.

Post offices and banks will also be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

All branches of the Sequoyah Regional Library will close for the day.

Waste Management will not run pickup service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Pickups will be delayed by one day.

Local Cherokee Area Transit Service buses will not run Monday, nor will express commuter buses.
