Howard Rae Kelly, 91, of Holly Springs passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013. He is survived by Shirley Kelly, his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dallas Holmes, and grandsons, Travis “Tiger” and Tyler “Bear”. Mr. Kelly was a WWII Veteran serving in the Army Air Corps as Flight Instructor at Tuskegee Airbase. This led him to the Los Angeles area and a career in the Aerospace Industry where he worked as program manager on a team that developed systems for the Apollo Space Program. After retirement he pursued various careers to include Restaurant Owner and Rural Postal delivery in Paso Robles CA. He followed his family to Georgia in 2000 where he continued to work at WalMart in Canton. He was proud to be a member of the American Legion, Elks and Moose Lodges. His greatest love was to play golf with his family and watch his grandsons play baseball. Shouts of “Go Tiger” and “Go Bear” will echo in our hearts forever. He was recently honored to join a group of Vets touring the WWII Memorial and other sites in Washington DC. We are grateful to the people that made that experience possible. The family request donations to the local chapter of the Honor Flight Organization in lieu of flowers. In Memory of Howard R. Kelly, c/o Honor Flight Conyers, Inc., PO Box 81122, Conyers, GA 30013, Memorial services and interment will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, February 8, 2013 at Georgia National Cemetery with Dr. C.R.
