Women have until Tuesday to apply.
“Following major League events, after patrons have experienced firsthand the commitment of League members to serving children and families with a wide array of needs, we regularly receive emails from other women in the community that identify with our mission, and desire to participate,” said League President Sherry Wallace. “The open application process allows all women to make an informed decision as to whether or not they have the time and ambition to be a dedicated member of the Service League of Cherokee County.”
With the growing scale and magnitude of the Service League’s flagship fundraising efforts, including the Riverfest Arts and Crafts festival, the Run for the Children 5K Race, and the Dancing for the Children/Annual Ball, the League’s body of 80 women have been able to generate unprecedented support and donations to support their mission of serving the needy children of Cherokee County.
“I wholeheartedly desire to see the Service League of Cherokee County continue to provide much needed services to local children and families struggling with daily needs. Opening up the application process allows a new avenue to find strong, gutsy, dedicated women to continue our mission,” Wallace said.
As this community has grown and as the League’s efforts have expanded and become more impactful, the executive board and the general League body voted to grow membership over the course of a couple of years to be able to better forward the mission of service.
Aiming to widen their reach to potential members and determined to define a more clearly articulated “path” to membership, the League is expanding its application process so that more qualified women could be welcomed into membership.
Women who live or work in Cherokee County and who want to serve children are asked to apply by Tuesday.
Applications and complete details can be found and downloaded directly from their new website at www.ServiceLeague.net and can be submitted either by mail or personally delivered by an active League member.
All applications must be received or post-marked by Tuesday, Feb. 12
