Adam James Budd, of Waleska, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013. He was a sophomore at Cherokee High School, an honors student, member of the Track & Field Team and the Tribe student spirit club. Adam spent the last five years studying taekwondo under Mr. Scott Murphy in Canton, and had earned his second degree black belt, as well as participating in XMA for several years. Adam was a participant in the 21st Century Leaders program, sponsored by Georgia Power. He was an avid Xbox player and planned to attend Georgia Tech to study mechanical engineering. Adam is survived by his mother, Carrie Budd McGowan of Waleska, and his father, James A. Budd of Robbinsville, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Amanda Budd, his step-father, Mike McGowan, and three step-brothers, Jake, John and Will McGowan. Grandparents are Barbara Gray of Kennesaw; Dick and Molly Gray of Franklin, NC, and Rev. Jimmy and Marlene Budd of Canton. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Darby Funeral Home in Canton from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Canton First United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm. Honorary pallbearers include Harrison Gray, Nick Bruno, Nick Glowka, Nick King, Griffin Moon, Hunter Fisher, Nathan Dent, Sam Smith and Troy Weaver. Donations can be made in Adam’s name to the Cherokee High School Track Booster Club at 930 Marietta Highway, Canton 30114; or the H.U. Lee Memorial Foundation, c/o Canton ATA studio, 110 Bluffs Parkway, Suite 202, Canton, GA 30114. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
