Woodstock launches new app for issues, requests

Woodstock residents now have an easier way to report issues and submit service requests to city staff.

On Thursday, the city of Woodstock launched Connect Woodstock, a free civic engagement tool that allows residents to stay in touch with the city.

Jim Moore, the city’s director of information technologies, said the mobile application can also be used to track online requests. He notified the mayor and council during their regular meeting Monday the app would go live this week.

The city used PublicStuff, a customer relations management software company, to create the app.

Moore said users are able to further describe the issue they or a fellow citizen have reported through a comments function.

“Residents can easily track their requests, support other requests and receive status updates from the city,” Moore said. “With PublicStuff, the city is able to manage and improve the efficiency in which they respond to service requests.”

Moore added his staff is able to use the professional software system to create widgets — stand-alone applications within the site — that enable users to submit and view specific information, including city of Woodstock happenings, emergency weather alerts, city administration information and more.

The app also features One Voice, a real-time translation feature that allows residents and city staff who may not speak the same language to communicate. Moore said residents can report an issue in over 16 languages, including Spanish.

PublicStuff founder and CEO Lily Liu said her company is thrilled to provide Woodstock residents with an app to communicate with their local government and learn more about city happenings.

“Woodstock is famous for its generous and close-knit residents, and PublicStuff aims to work with the city to make it an even better place for them to live and be engaged with their community,” Liu said.

According to the New York city-based company, more than 200 cities are using PublicStuff’s platform and mobile app.
