Johnston said that to the best of his knowledge Northside is expected to kick in approximately $50,000 for the naming rights. The funds would offset operating costs for the new recreation facility.
Northside also is a chief competitor of WellStar Kennestone, a Marietta-based health care provider which is awaiting approval from the city of Holly Spring to begin construction on several new health care facilities at the intersection of Interstate 575 and Sixes Road.
WellStar’s 62-acre plot there sits on the same street as the aquatic center.
“There is no firm agreement just yet, but this is what we understand they are planning to do,” Johnston told the residents at the meeting Monday night.
Johnston called the meeting to field citizen questions on the county’s former partnership with Ball Ground Recycling, Cherokee County’s no. 53 ranking in the state in property tax rates and new parks and recreation projects, including the $17-million aquatic center.
