PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) — The Lee County corner has identified a man who died after a struggle with sheriff’s deputies and police in the Phenix City area as 25-year-old Khari Neville Illidge of Columbus, Ga.

Lee County sheriff’s officials say they responded to a call about a naked man who entered a home and threatened its occupants Sunday night. Police say the man fled and tried entering another house when officers tried subduing him.

Phenix City police assisted sheriff’s deputies in a struggle authorities say lasted more than 10 minutes. Authorities say the man was combative even after deputies used a Taser to try subduing him. The man passed out and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Sheriff Jay Jones has requested the Alabama Bureau of Investigation to probe the incident.
