CASA hosts SuperHero 5K, 1 mile run Saturday

WOODSTOCK — Cherokee County Court Appointed Special Advocates, CASA for the Children, is hosting the second CASA SuperHero 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk/Family Fun on Saturday.

The event is at Woodstock First Baptist Church. Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superheroes and run, walk, skip, cartwheel or crawl across the finish line.

WellStar Health Systems will have kids’ games and the famous Dr. Wellbee. The Atlanta Hawks will bring Unit 21, a customized ambulance with attachable hoops and televisions, equipped with Playstations.

CrossFit Emerge will lead the group in pre-race warm up and stretches and the 5K is the Workout of the Day. Yong In Martial Arts will lead the kids through martial arts demonstrations.

Festivities also include a bounce house and face painting.

Registration is open until midnight Thursday at Race day registration and check in begin at 7 a.m. Festivities begin at 7:30 a.m., 5K start is 8 a.m. and 1 Mile start is 9 a.m.

Awards will be given for overall male and female finishers as well as top three male and females in age categories and awards will be given for Best Traditional, Original and Pet Costumes.

All proceeds benefit CASA for Children Inc. CASA provides quality child advocacy to Cherokee’s foster youth through trained community volunteers.
