Cherokee Sheriff’s Office deputies are continuing to look for a man who allegedly exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl who had just gotten off of her school bus Thursday afternoon in southwestern Cherokee County.

Deputies responded to the call around 4:15 p.m. in the Twin Pines subdivision off Kellogg Creek Road. They were unable to locate the suspect upon arrival.

At least two witnesses saw the man’s vehicle and heard the girl scream, said Lt. Jay Baker, Cherokee Sheriff’s spokesman.

“According to the victim, after the man exposed himself to her, he also made multiple inappropriate comments,” Baker said. “She screamed and ran home.”

Baker described the suspect as a heavy-set white male with “salt and pepper” hair. He was reportedly driving an older-model white foreign-made sedan.

Baker said investigators are following up on a few leads after canvassing the neighborhood Thursday night.

He said there have not been any other similar reports in the area recently.

“There was a similar incident over a year ago in the same neighborhood,” Baker said. “We don’t think it was related, but we’re looking into it.”

Anyone with additional information about the incident is urged to call 911.
