On May 11, MUST Ministries will play host to its 7th annual Spring Gala — Waves of Hope — at the Georgia Aquarium ballroom at 7 p.m. with dinner, an auction and entertainment. The gala raises needed funds for MUST to carry out its ministry, as well as providing a platform to tell its story.

MUST Ministries, a faith-based organization, serves people in need in Cobb and Cherokee counties.

“Like the powerful waves at the beach, crashing against the sand, we can partner together to wash away the despair of poverty,” said Betsy Mathews, Development Officer for MUST Ministries.

Working as a team, MUST partners with corporations, churches, individual donors, foundations and volunteers to offer help and hope to 34,000 people a year.

“The Gala is important because it is MUST’s second largest fundraiser (behind the annual Gobble Jog) and helps raise financial support to continue the work of serving 34,000 people a year. Almost half of those we serve are children,” Mathews said.

The Gala makes it possible to provide food, housing, emergency shelter, employment services and other vital programs to neighbors in need.

“Without vital community support, MUST could not continue this important work,” she said.

The evening is co-chaired by Pam and Ron Younker. Last year, they were honored as the Ginger Kaney Servant Leader Award winners that MUST gives annually. Pam Younker works with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Ron with Colonial Pipeline.

Angelique Proctor from Fox 5 will emcee the evening. Celebrity auctioneers Guerry Wise and Jason Brooks of Gallery 63 and the hit TV show “Auction Kings” on Discovery Channel will auction items including a Yamaha wave runner, a trip to Tuscany, and a behind the scenes tour of TNT’s Inside the Game and NBA TV’s Game Time. There is also a silent auction before dinner.

Guests will also be treated to a brief feature video on MUST.

The Georgia Aquarium ballroom is at 225 Baker St. NW, Atlanta.

Tickets are $150 per person. To purchase tickets and for more information, visit or call (770) 427-9862.
