The Cherokee County Board of Education will review a short agenda at tonight’s meeting at the historic Canton High School/School Board Auditorium at 7 p.m.

On the agenda is a consideration of Requests for Proposal for the construction and relocation of existing sewer infrastructure on the Cherokee High School campus.

Upon completion, the relocation project will allow the school system to use the property to construct a new girl’s softball field on school grounds.

The project was approved in the November 2011 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum. District officials estimate the project will cost approximately $450,000 and will be included in the 2013-14 capital outlay budget.

The board will also consider the reappointment of more than 2,000 teachers for the upcoming school year.

No items are listed on the agenda regarding the recent budget considerations presented at the March 21 and April 18 work sessions. Superintendent Dr. Frank Petruzielo said during the most recent work session he plans to present a recommended tentative budget at the board’s June 13 meeting, which will be tabled to allow for public input until the July 24 special called meeting where the board will be asked to vote on the final budget.

The deadline to approve the budget required by state law is July 30.
