BALL GROUND — The driver of a commercial truck was injured after it struck the guardrail on the northbound side of Interstate 575 on Monday afternoon, just south of the Howell Bridge Road exit, according to a Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson.

Battalion Chief Dan Floyd said the driver had a “large bump on his forehead” and was taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee for evaluation, but “did not appear to have life threatening injuries.”

The accident happened at about 4:45 p.m. and caused one northbound lane of I-575 to be blocked until the wreck was removed, said Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson Tim Cavender.

Cavender said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
