A flash flood warning is in effect for Cherokee County until 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Cherokee Emergency Management Agency said.

Capt. Joe Perkins with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said that no problems with roads had been reported as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, despite receiving heavy rainfall in areas throughout the county.

Perkins said if anyone encounters roads that are covered in water, they should turn around and not try to drive through.

“Don’t cross over and put yourself at risk,” Perkins said.

He also said that any road problems could be reported by calling 911.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor the situation of possible flooding throughout the evening, he said.
