Sherri Walker Cloud of Canton took top honors with her homemade peach ice cream at the Canton Farmers Market Peach Off on Saturday.

The event was sponsored by the city of Canton and judges were firefighter Don Lemons, Sandy McGrew, Bill Grant, Canton Councilman Glen Cummins, and Mayor Gene Hobgood.

“I was honored to be asked to taste this year’s entries. It was lots of fun. Congratulations to Sherri Cloud for her peach ice cream. All entries were delicious,” said McGrew on the city’s Facebook page.

Cloud also commented on Facebook.

“Thanks for the opportunity. This market is great,” Cloud said of the weekly Canton Farmers Market held on Saturday mornings in downtown. “Hope everyone comes out next week for some fresh local produce!”

Other entries included peach cobbler, peach salsa and peach gazpacho.

Peach Ice Cream

From Sherri Walker Cloud

2 cups cut up, mashed ripe Georgia peaches

2 cups sugar

2 cans Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

Whole milk

Mix all these together and pour into ice cream freezer. Add enough whole milk to fill to the top (leave couple inches). Place in ice cream freezer. Fill with ice and ice cream salt. Plug in and relax. It will turn off when it is done in about 30 to 45 minutes. Let set 30 minutes after finished in the ice to complete. Dip out and enjoy.
