Media the one failing public, not school board member

DEAR EDITOR:

I really don’t understand what all this noise is about concerning the Cherokee County Board of Education.

One member of the Board of Education has asked for an explanation as to why there seems to be some problems with the audited financial report of 2011.

All the while the mainstream print media is reporting about the controversy where they should be doing some investigative reporting to find out if there really is any truth to the issue.

Instead the media continually reports the attacks on this one brave Board of Education member and the people that try to help her. This seems to me very un-democratic, very un-American that the mainstream media does nothing, just lazily reports what’s given to them.

You would think they would do some investigative journalism. After all isn’t that why the media was given the legal exemptions they hold so dear?

Is it any wonder that it is hard to find good candidates to run for office when they are treated in the media in this manner. What’s happened to our media, has it gotten lazy or has it gotten corrupt?

Is print media a failing business model unable to compete with electronic media or have they brought it on themselves?
