DEAR EDITOR:

That old word game, “Connection” can be played in many of the stories in the Tribune.

Take Wednesday’s front page story dealing with a possible 18 percent increase in the millage rate. This comes within a week or two of the council granting themselves a 300 percent pay raise and then voting to spend nearly $300,000 on an amphitheater which will likely become one of the city’s biggest white elephants.

In the word game here you start with the word “chutzpah.”

It quickly connects to “gall” then to “nerve” and on to “arrogance” and “hubris” and finally it connects to “Canton City Council.”

Some of the taxpayers in this city are getting ready for a wholesale replacement of council members who continue to show a total disdain for sound fiscal management.

The prevailing attitude of some council members is beyond reprehensible.
