WOODSTOCK — Chattahoochee Technical College announced Tuesday that the school’s Woodstock campus will close Aug. 8 for renovations, and is expected to reopen in 2015.

College spokeswoman Rebecca Long said instructors and classes from the Woodstock campus will be relocated to the Canton campus and North Metro campus in Acworth during the 18 months that are needed for completing the renovations.

“We are in the process of reviewing bids and will be selecting the contractor soon,” Long said Wednesday. “Prework would start late this year or early next (year), with approximately 18 months to complete over all. It is possible that the campus could reopen early to mid-2015.”

The project highlights include renovations to the heating ventilation and air conditioning system, renovations to the roof and windows and updating the facility’s restrooms and plumbing.

“The Woodstock Campus of Chattahoochee Technical College will be getting a facelift,” Long said when the renovation plans were officially announced.

The renovations will be paid for with $5.2 million in funds appropriated by the state Legislature in 2011, according to a news release.

The Woodstock facility is the oldest out of the college’s eight campuses, and many of the buildings built in the early 20th century are still in place.

The building housed Woodstock Elementary School before reopening as Appalachian Technical College.

Appalachian Technical College became part of Chattahoochee Tech when the colleges merged in 2009, making up the state’s third largest technical college.
