Farm Bureau volunteers Nichelle Stewart of Rockin’ S Farm and Liz Porter of Buckeye Creek Farm will present a demonstration about different methods of food preservation for those who stop by the Farm Bureau booth.
Topics include how to choose produce for preservation, food and equipment safety and preparing produce for canning, freezing and drying.
Other topics will be on the use of water bath and pressure canners and advice on troubling shooting, including what can go wrong and how to avoid it.
Those who attend will learn how to can jams, jellies and preserves as well as pickles and relishes.
The Woodstock Farmers Market is presented by Cherokee Bank and is open Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The market is open every Saturday through Oct. 26 and is located at the Woodstock City Center parking lot at the corner of Main Street and Towne Lake Parkway.
Buckeye Creek Farm is in Hickory Flat and offers sustainably grown vegetables and fruits through local farmers markets and restaurants.
Rockin’ S Farms is located in the Free Home community. It provides sustainable produce to Atlanta area restaurants and local patrons.
“We grow open pollinated heirloom field corn for grinding and an old variety of okra as well as berries, tomatoes, peppers, greens, lettuce, squash, cucumbers and more,” Baxter said.
