The Daily Bread Café is serving up yummy sandwiches like your mom would make.

Daily Bread Café in Marietta is the second restaurant owned by Tonya Bruce of Cherokee County. She also owns the popular Lunch Basket at 627 Cherokee St., No. 10, east of WellStar Kennestone Hospital. It has been in business for more than 30 years.

Daily Bread Café offers a convenient alternative to Lunch Basket for the same great sandwiches. Only minutes from the Lunch Basket, Daily Bread occupies the space formerly operated by Psych-a-Deli.

“Everybody told me I should name (the café) Lunch Basket II, but I didn’t want to do that. I want it to be its own place,” Bruce said.

Daily Bread Café is its own place with a roomy seating area, but Bruce is building on the same concept that makes Lunch Basket such a hot spot. Daily Bread serves basic, unfussy sandwiches on soft bread.

“It’s basically the same menu as Lunch Basket with a few extra items on the menu here. Eventually we will open for breakfast. We’re trying to build on the lunch first,” Bruce said.

A sandwich might be a sandwich but Daily Bread understands the secret to a great one.

“The customer gets to pick whatever they want to go on their sandwich. Everything is fresh every day. We cut our own meat and cheese every day. We cut our own vegetables every day,” she said.

“Our hot salami and cheese is awesome. Our chicken salad and egg salad are great. Most people over here are liking the Reuben and chef salad,” Bruce said.

“We’re simple. We’re inexpensive,” Bruce said.

The new restaurant is at 531 Roselane St, Suite 520, Marietta.

Visit Daily Bread Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Delivery and catering are available.
