WOODSTOCK — A popular duo is making a repeat appearance at FoxTale Book Shoppe on Monday to cook up some fun.

Crystal Cook and Sandy Pollock are shaking things up with their latest offering, “The Casserole Queens Make-a-Meal Cookbook,” which was released Tuesday. The cost of the book is $17.99.

“They were so popular. We sold out of books last time, but we have plenty of books,” said Karen Schwettman, one of the three owners of FoxTale.

The event is free and starts at 6:30 p.m.

Known as the Casserole Queens, the two gained popularity with their first book, “The Casserole Queens Cookbook: Put Some Lovin’ in Your Oven with 100 Easy One-Dish Recipes,” which became a New York Times bestseller.

While their first cookbook was all about 9-inch by 13-inch pan recipes, they are breaking out of the mold with fresh sides and salads that will round out weeknight meals in their new book.

“The Casserole Queens Make-a-Meal Cookbook” features 100 recipes that cooks can mix and match with plenty of make-ahead tips.

“Need to pull together dinner in a flash? Check! Need to plan an elegant meal for the in-laws? Check! Need to cook and successfully transport a dish to a party? Check,” according to FoxTale’s website.

The book features:

 46 make-from-scratch casseroles, 37 salads and sides, 13 quick-fix desserts.

 Gluten-free and diabetic-friendly recipes.

 Plenty of satisfying vegetarian main dishes.

 A chapter of recipes using seven ingredients or fewer — most of which cooks have on hand in the pantry.

 Variations, freezing tips and serving ideas.

Cooks can find tips on what to make for dinner, a potluck crowd-pleaser, or a fix-and-freeze dish to save for later.

As they gained popularity, Pollock and Cook took their fresh-from-scratch meals from their hometown in Austin, Texas, to the stages of “Throwdown! with Bobby Flay,” “The Today Show” and QVC.

Featured on Epicurious.com, Oprah.com and CNN.com, they’ve also been guests on Bobby Flay Radio on Sirius XM and Martha Stewart Living Radio on SiriusXM 110.

They are also stars of their own web series on the new YouTube food channel, HUNGRY.

Pollock, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York City, derived the idea for the Casserole Queens during a holiday visit with her family, according to her published biography.

After making the Pollocks’ signature dishes with her mom and siblings, she realized that everyone in the family was satisfied. She wanted to make sure that every family had the chance to enjoy that feeling.

Cook, a former member of Corporate America, brings more than 17 years of marketing experience to the Casserole Queens team and an entrepreneurial drive to help execute their vision, her biography said.

In addition to her strong marketing background, Cook comes from generations of fine cooking.

“Raised a true Southern belle, this Casserole Queen knows her way around the kitchen and into every food lover’s heart. It is her goal to help deliver a little nostalgia with every casserole we sell,” according to the biography.

FoxTale Book Shoppe is at 105 E Main St. in Woodstock. For more information, call (770) 516-9989 or visit foxtalebookshoppe.com.
