Police are investigating the death of Cherokee County man who was discovered shot dead in a Pickens County home early Sunday morning.

Just after midnight Sunday, Pickens County Sheriff’s deputies found the body of Cherokee resident Scott Terrell, 44, inside a house on Waleska Highway in Jasper, said Brad Parks, special agent in charge at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Office in Cleveland.

Parks said the Pickens Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are continuing to look into the death and why the Cherokee man was at the home.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Parks said no charges had been filed in Terrell’s death, but it appears that another person fired the fatal shot.

“I don’t think it’s a suicide,” he said.

Scott’s body was found at the home of resident Alex Rebo, who has not been arrested, Parks said.

“Our investigation’s active and ongoing at this point,” Parks said.
