Sweet-toothed liquor thief tells Pennsylvania clerk: See ya

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) — Police have been searching for a sweet-toothed, fleet-footed thief who got away with two bottles of flavored vodka after telling a western Pennsylvania state store clerk, "See ya!"

The New Castle News reports the incident happened about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in a Wine and Spirits Store in New Castle. That's about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Police say the suspect carried two bottles of flavored vodka — one grape and one cotton candy — to the checkout counter.

When the store's manager asked the suspect for his identification, the man simply said, "See ya!" and ran out the door.

Police say the suspect drove away in a late model Pontiac Grand Am. Two other people appeared to be in the car as it sped away.

Vermont man, 73, plants mystery seeds, gets pot ticket

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) — A 73-year-old man who was given the first civil marijuana ticket in a Vermont town says he had planted some seeds he found in a box and "got spanked" by police after it grew into a pot plant.

William Reynolds was issued a $200 civil ticket by St. Johnsbury police after authorities seized a potted 2 ½-foot-tall marijuana plant from his Main Street apartment.

Police say they saw no indication Reynolds was a pot smoker or had other marijuana plants.

Reynolds tells the Caledonian Record he doesn't smoke marijuana and was "playing around" with the seeds he found.

He says he "did wrong" and won't contest the ticket.

Vermont decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana on July 1.
