One week after being named Etowah’s top offensive player by the Cherokee County Gridiron Club, Brandon Engle found himself receiving another accolade.

Engle was named the Eagles’ top special teams Player for his role in the team’s victory over Pope last Friday.

Brad Morgan (offense) and Keith Gordon (defense) won the other weekly honors for Etowah.

Asher Davis won the defensive and special teams honors for Cherokee, following the Warriors’ loss to North Forsyth. Blace Brown and Calvin Mayo shared the offensive award.

For River Ridge, Tyler Keeney (offense), Parris Collins (defense) and Brock Harris (special teams) were recognized following the Knights’ loss to Ridgeland.

Etowah, Cherokee and River Ridge were the only three county teams to play Friday.

River Ridge, which previously had not reported its players of the week for the Gridiron Club award, gave its own awards to Jaylin McCray (offense), Jacob Samuels (defense) and Nick Clarke-Hall (special teams) for its season-opening loss against Sequoyah.

Week 2 awards, following the Knights’ narrow loss to Creekview, went to James Egan (offense), Seth Nama (defense) and Collins (special teams).
