“While at its core it is a love story, the plot brings together a number of characters who are searching for answers to life’s problems, and the book weaves a beautiful tapestry in which God meets each of them at their point of need. While bringing God’s love to the forefront, it also offers suspense, mystery and a fulfilling reading experience,” Ross said.
West Bow Press is publishing the book and describes “Searching” as a story that begins when Wade Franklin returns to his hometown Taylor Crossing, Georgia, to be reunited with “high school sweetheart and lifelong friend” Pamela Palmer.
Her new life is set at a local newspaper, the Taylor Times, where she is making her life as an editor.
The meeting reunites the couple after a two-year absence. Wade reveals his father’s undercover assignment involving an unsolved murder. Pam and Wade begin to renew and strengthen the bond they’ve formed over the years.
“It confronts personal issues of heartbreak, loneliness and man’s need for God while also exposing the darker side of crime and corruption within our cities,” said Ross. The story is set in present day with conflict including drug distribution and terrorism.
“(Searching) portrays God’s presence in the everyday lives of its characters, as he sometimes moves in ways they may not understand to accomplish his purpose. … The plot is built around characters who are seeking truth, love, and salvation,” and the way in which, “God meets each of them at their point of need,” she said.
The book has faith as a central theme, and the understanding that “God has the answers to all of life’s problems.”
Wade and Pamela must accept the idea that their fairytale romance is less than perfect as they encounter life’s challenges. Also essential to “Searching’s” plot are other characters who tie all the pieces together.
“It not only has romance, but has elements of danger and suspense. ... The book should appeal to readers who are, first of all, looking for a great story, yet at the same time seek encouragement, inspiration and hope for their own lives,” Ross said.
Ross began writing in her professional life as an executive assistant. “Writing has always been part of my DNA, and during my recovery from surgery several years ago, I decided to write a novel,” Ross said.
During retirement she made the transition from poetry to the Romance Christian genre and the publication of “Searching.” Ross writes in the hopes to connect to those who follow their faith and God to create resolve in a world of broken hearts.
“As the plot developed, I realized God had a purpose from the beginning, even though I didn’t realize it at the time,” she said.
Ross hopes to reach readers with her gift for writing.
“I believe God has called me to use this ability to tell the world about his amazing love, and his promise of forgiveness and salvation to those who trust him,” she said.
Ross hopes that readers can accept Christ through this book and others she writes in the future, she said.
