A fire destroyed a home in between Ball Ground and Free Home late Sunday night.

Cherokee County firefighters responded to the home at 4365 Ball Ground Road near Hogan Pond Road around midnight Sunday and found the home ablaze, said Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

Cavender said fire units from Ball Ground, Free Home and Macedonia were dispatched to the scene but were not able to save the home.

There were, however, no injuries reported, Cavender said.

“Firefighters saw a vehicle in the yard and were concerned that someone could be in the house,” he said. “But it was later learned that the occupant was not at home.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Cherokee County fire investigators.
