Cherokee County firefighters responded to the home near Hogan Pond Road at about midnight Sunday and found the home ablaze, said Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.
Cavender said fire trucks from Ball Ground, Free Home and Macedonia were dispatched to the scene but were unable to save the home.
“Firefighters saw a vehicle in the yard and were concerned that someone could be in the house,” he said. “But it was later learned that the occupant was not at home.”
The cause of the fire is being investigated by Cherokee County fire investigators.
