WALESKA — Reinhardt University will celebrate its first homecoming to include a football game this weekend when it presents a full schedule of events Saturday and Sunday.

The 24th-ranked Eagles will vie for a fifth straight win Saturday when they kick off at 12 p.m. at the Ken White Field against the Belhaven University Blazers.

But the big game is just part of the festivities as Reinhardt University will be welcoming alumni, students, families, faculty and staff during Homecoming Weekend.

“It wouldn’t be fall at Reinhardt if we didn’t welcome back our alumni and their families to enjoy the festivities on campus planned for Friday and Saturday,” said Kathy Bouyett, alumni director.

On Friday, the Homecoming Pep Rally will take place from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on the Hasty Plaza.

The Marching Eagles, “SOAR the Eagle,” cheerleaders and the football team will be involved in the pre-game celebration. Students may pick up an official T-Shirt for the game “blue out” at the pep rally.

Later Friday night, Reinhardt’s most talented students will take stage at the Talent Show in the Falany Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early arrival is recommended, school officials said.

Homecoming continues on Saturday with events for all ages. The day begins with tailgating from 9 a.m. to noon, in any designated parking lot. Groups may bring picnic items and food to the tailgating areas.

Members of the classes of 1974-76 may join in for the tailgate at 10 a.m. to noon, on the Rollins Sports Complex Lawn. For more information, visit www.reinhardt.edu/class-reunion.

During half-time, the 2013 Homecoming Court will take place and Homecoming King and Queen will be announced.

Additionally, Reinhardt students, alumni and families are invited to the Fall Festival from 3 to 6 p.m. on the Rollins Sports Complex Lawn following the game. Music, inflatable attractions, carnival games and more will be offered.

The weekend events will close out from 9 to 11 p.m. in the Bannister Glasshouse with a rock concert by The Shadowboxers, a pop-rock band that recently toured with the Indigo Girls.

A dance will follow featuring a guest disc jockey.
