CANTON — A group of tennis enthusiasts is launching a new cookbook for a good cause at the “A Recipe for Hope” event today at 2 p.m.

The book, “For the Love of Food,” is being released at the event which includes a polo match at the Union Hill Polo Club in Canton.

All proceeds from the sale of the book benefit Giving Comfort — a program of the McKesson Foundation that provides care packages, called Comfort Kits, containing comfort items given to financially disadvantaged cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in the Atlanta area and nationwide.

The event is free and the cookbook costs $20.

Contributors include top area restaurants like Buckhead Diner, One Midtown Kitchen, Two Urban Licks, South City Kitchen, Luciano’s, Portofino and di Paolo.

The effort has been led by Megan Holmes and others in the Atlanta tennis community. Those involved said it has been a great way to mix a few things they love — tennis, cooking and giving back to the community.

Holmes said she has seen the impact of the Giving Comfort program and thought the cookbook would be a great way to support the program, particularly because of the great partnerships the program has with area organizations like Grady Health and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Complimentary wine, beer, light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

The polo field is at 430 Roper Road. For information visit www.ftlofatlanta.com.
