Recently, while participating in a worldwide conference, one of my mentors introduced his talk, a talk warning of the dangers of being led into intellectual and/or ideological bondage, by telling how Italy’s Giuseppe Verdi had been inspired by Jeremiah’s Book of Lamentations to create his famous opera “Nabucco,” short for Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon.

This opera tells of the cries of the Hebrew slaves who were enslaved by Nebuchadnezzar. Judah was literally destroyed and its people literally carried into captivity, ironically in what today is modern day Iraq and Iran.

This sorrowful history of Judah’s re-enslavement is graphically recorded in Jeremiah’s Lamentations in the Bible’s Old Testament.

As I listened to the words of my mentor, I began to wonder just how many people throughout history have been inspired by the Bible to do as Giuseppe did to warn, via his opera, the people of the dangers of ignoring the laws and commandments God laid out in his Textbook for both mortal and eternal life, the Bible.

As I thought of the how Giuseppe had used his God-given talents to warn his operatic audiences I thought of Roger Hines, and of his recent efforts to point out the dangers of celebrating the cultural changes at work in America today that, much like what happened in Judah under the leadership of the wicked and evil king Manasseh.

Manasseh’s leadership led to Judah’s bondage and total destruction by ignoring those laws, the same laws that Thomas Jefferson referred to in the Declaration of Independence as “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.”

Today, here in America, there are those who are either ignorant of or purposely ignore the consequences that have followed similar social changes throughout history, changes similar to those being advocated today here in America.

Sadly, the consequences that follow the implementation of such changes fall not only on just those advocating such changes, but also on those who condone such changes, or those who choose to stick their heads in the sand, people often lulled into silence by fears created by political correctness, as in our day, and enforced by the laws created by legislative bodies often ignorant of the foundational principles of freedom endowed to America by God, via its Founding Fathers.

I commend those who attempt to warn their people for having the courage to warn their audiences of the dangers that lie ahead for America if it does not reverse its current course.

As I continued to listen to my mentor, I began to think of individuals who have been powerfully influenced by the words of Christ that have led people and nations to total freedom, both secular and spiritual freedom, words that are laid out in the Bible for all mankind’s blessings.

One of those so inspired by the words of the Bible that has changed the world we live in for good was Jefferson, who literally believed that the source of freedom was and is Jesus Christ, his mentor in writing the greatest document of freedom in modern-day history, the document that has inspired enslaved men worldwide to rise up and break out of their shackles of enslavement in wars that continue to be fought to break those satanic chains of bondage that continue to enslave people politically, and spiritually, even today.

But there are other bondages, my mentors pointed out, that enslave people too, often in chains that affect not just their mortal lives, but have consequences relating to their eternal lives. The one all speakers referenced was the current efforts to change the secular laws regarding marriage, efforts, they said, will lead to consequences such as afflicted the cultures that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, ancient Judah, Hitler’s Germany and Stalin’s Russia, plus myriad other nations and civilizations, including the Roman Empire.

Not only do my mentors emphasize by word, but they have published proclamations that marriage, as the Bible declares in Geneses 2:24, is between one man and one woman, joined together in marriage to bring forth and nurture children to perpetuate society and civilization in order to fulfill God’s Great Plan of Happiness.

These principles are taught by all biblically centered societies who recognize and firmly believe that the very foundation of all civilized society is the traditional family. Destroy that traditional family, as is being championed by certain groups today, you not only destroy civilization’s foundational building block of the family, but society as well.

I wonder, do these groups really comprehend the consequences of their efforts?
