New York Times bestselling author Mary Kay Andrews will be signing her latest book, “Christmas Bliss,” at the party on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20 and includes a copy of the book.
The novella tackles the themes of love, the holidays and antiques.
“People just love Mary Kay Andrews. She understands women, and writes about issues that affect women. She relates to what women go through and she taps in by asking questions on Facebook,” said Ellen Ward, one of the three owners of FoxTale.
Ward said her shop launched the book with an event in October in Decatur, and is now bringing the celebration to town with a Christmas party.
“We always turn her events into a party. Some have recipes and involve food. This one will be holiday oriented. It involves characters from her previous books,” Ward said.
FoxTale is partnering with next door neighbor Leaning Ladder Premium Olive Oils and Vinegars for the party. Ward said the party would make a great girls night out.
“It will be a festive time,” Ward said.
“Christmas Bliss” offers Andrews’ legions of fans the best of many things: familiar characters, a new novella for Christmas, and a celebration of the author’s own favorite pastime —antiquing, according to the author’s promotion of the book.
“Christmas is coming, but Savannah antique dealer Weezie Foley is doubly distracted — both by her upcoming wedding to her longtime love, chef Daniel Stipanek, and also by the fact that her best friend and maid-of-honor BeBe Loudermilk is due to give birth any day — and is still adamantly refusing to marry her live-in-love Harry,” according to a synopsis of the book.
Readers have come to love these characters in Andrews’ three previous Savannah novels: “Savannah Blues,” “Savannah Breeze,” and “Blue Christmas.”

Below is a recipe Mary Kay Andrews shares with her readers
3 oz. softened cream cheese
½ cup softened butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
¾ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. softened butter
¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup finely chopped pecans
Mix pastry ingredients until blended and chill. Form pastry into 24 balls; using fingertips, press into bottom and up sides of ungreased miniature muffin tins. For filling, beat together all ingredients except pecans. Sprinkle a few chopped nuts into bottom of each pastry. Pour filling over nuts, filling each tin ¾ full. Bake at 350 degrees, for 20-25 minutes, or until filling is set. Cool slightly, remove muffins from tins by running a knife around edges. Finish cooling on wire racks. Store in tightly covered container. These freeze well.
