CANTON — Early holiday shoppers can get off to a great start in the search to find the perfect gift and get a taste of the season at the fifth annual Jingle Bell $hop sponsored by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s Jingle Bell $hop is Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cherokee County Conference Center.

Chick-fil-A Canton will be on-site selling lunch, and the Conference Center Tasting event will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Chamber bills the free event as a one-stop shopping extravaganza of beautiful and distinctive gifts.

“In its fifth year, the Jingle Bell $hop is focused on attracting consumers while keeping money in the community,” said Chamber President Pam Carnes. “Whether they are looking for unique merchandise, shorter lines to Santa or one-stop shopping, the Jingle Bell $hop continues to provide all three.”

The Jingle Bell $hop is presented by Bank of North Georgia and is in partnership with the Cherokee County Conference Center, Cherokee County, WLJA 101.1 FM, O’Brien Productions and the Cherokee Tribune.

“You will be able to visit with Santa, and find special gifts for everyone on your Christmas list without crossing the county line,” said Gini Mizelle, the Chamber’s events manager. “The goal of the event is to keep local dollars local.”

In addition to vendors, there will be entertainment galore. Groups from Creekland Middle, Mill Creek Middle, Teasley Middle, R.M. Moore Elementary, Knox Elementary, Cherokee High School, Bascomb Elementary and Hasty Elementary will perform throughout the day.

The Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency is the “Santa Sponsor” and will have Santa on-site for free visits, Mizelle said. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own cameras to take photos, she said.

Cobb Electric Membership Corp. is sponsoring the “Sweet Shop,” where visitors can purchase sweets to enjoy while shopping and Express Impressions is providing free shopping bags at the event.
