Rev. John “J.W.” Wesley Watson Sr., 89 of Cherokee County passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. J.W. was born June 4, 1924 in Cherokee Co. J.W. was a lifelong resident of Cherokee Co. J.W. proudly served his country in WWII, with the 202 Ordinance Depot supplying munitions to the troops that took Normandy on D-Day. J.W. pastored many churches in the North Georgia area. He retired from Atlanta Gas Light Company after 35 years of dedicated service. He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, two Brothers and three Sisters. Left behind to cherish all the sweet memories and quality time is his Wife, Laura B. Watson, two Sons and Daughters-in-law, two Daughters and Sons-in-law, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Light Baptist Church, 6946 Wills Rd, Cumming, GA 30040. The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home on Tuesday 4-8pm and Wednesday 10-2pm. The funeral service will be 2pm Wednesday November 13, from the Darby Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Methodist Cemetery. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at:
