The cold weather moving into Cherokee County has caused some changes for schools, drivers and government offices Monday morning.
All county schools were closed due to weather, and most government offices opened late at 10 a.m., as a measure of caution.
The weather has also affected the Cherokee County Board of Elections, which was scheduled to meet at 9:30 a.m. but instead is set to meet noon, according to the elections office.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has warned motorists to use caution as they travel around the county.
By 6:30 a.m. there had been reports of ice on several roads including Interstate 575 in between exits 11 and 14 and the northbound on ramp at exit 14. Ice was also reported on Butterworth Road near Highway 5 as well as on Sixes Road, Coker’s Chapel Road and Henry Scott Road, police said.
