Cherokee County deputies had a call about a suspicious man at Baxter’s Grocery and when they responded, the man jumped into a patrol car and attempted to run the deputy down with the car, said Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker. The deputy shot at the vehicle and the man was hit in the incident.
Baker said that the man had outstanding warrants against him at the time.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation is headed to the scene. The man’s name has not yet been released. Authorities said the man was believed to not be seriously injured in the incident and was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Baker said.
