Weather worries close Cherokee schools, offices Tuesday

All Cherokee County schools and government offices will be closed Tuesday as a winter weather storm system moves into the county, officials said.

Cherokee County school activities beginning after 6 p.m. are also canceled for Monday night, and School District spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said a determination on whether or not to close schools Wednesday will be made by noon Tuesday.

All Cherokee County offices, including the Cherokee County Justice Center, will also be closed Tuesday, while a decision on Wednesday will be made by 6 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Reinhardt University closed Monday at 5 p.m., and no evening classes or activities were to take place, officials said. Reinhardt will remain closed Tuesday, and no classes or activities will go on.

Chattahoochee Technical College also announced it will close all campuses Monday at 8:30 p.m., and will remain closed Tuesday.

The weather has also impacted a Woodstock Municipal Court on Tuesday, which has been rescheduled for March 6 at 5:30 pm., city officials said.

Action Church on Marietta Road in Canton will open at 5 p.m. Monday night as a warming shelter and will serve dinner at 6:30 p.m.
