Ryan Jones, 23, checked into Northside Hospital-Cherokee with non-life threatening injuries moments after authorities received a 911 call reporting the shooting on Bells Ferry Road, said Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the home near Holly Street shortly after 4:30 p.m. When they arrived, witnesses reported Jones had come to the house demanding to be paid for a debt he claimed he was owed, Baker said.
A guest at the house, Brian Turner, 43, of Woodstock, is suspected of shooting Jones with a shotgun outside the house. Jones’ gun later turned out to be a BB gun, Baker said.
Deputies got a search warrant to test Turner to find out if he was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the shooting, Baker said.
“He refused to comply with the search warrant and was arrested for obstruction,” Baker said. “The investigation is ongoing, but at this point Turner has not been charged in the shooting.”
Turner was held at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center with a $1,000 bond Monday morning.
